“AVAN”, by DJ Firmeza, is a muscular Kuduro roller that doesn’t let up. The vocals sound recorded in a garage, but are all the more compelling for it, somehow.
And “Intenso” is perfectly named. More steppy goodness is held firmly in place by Ghom-influenced tension. The vocals leap and slice around the room, chased by truly banging drums. Each section lulls you forward, while police sirens chase you through the crowd dancing in the street.
Listening to this EP is like that scene where our hero is wandering around in the woods at night, breaks through the tree line, and suddenly finds himself surrounded by ceremony he can’t begin to understand.
