Sammy Virji – Quarantine Done

By Jordan Moussavi

Sammy Virji’s trailblazing run of eccentric etudes and uptempo shellers continues in a ripe run of form with his latest offering  “Quarantine Done”.

As a luminary talent in the “NUKG” wave, Virji’s ear for both the bumpy and the crowd-pleasing has rightly earned him plaudits, features, and support across the board. His latest is playful and upfront, with an obvious tongue-in-cheek nod to the spectrum of experiences and opinions pertaining to the lifting of lockdown in the UK. Quarantine Done is set apart from the rest thanks to its driving, 4×4 drums paired with gluttonous basslines and garnished by Virji’s clear lean into house flavors—comparisons to another NUKG standout, the Phat Controlla, feel justified here; given the quality of both artists, this certainly serves as no disservice to either.

Robust, perky, and comprehensively danceable, Virji again proves why he’s the man in demand across the UK bass scene.
